Rear Tin work next! and the new home for the Oil Tank all the fittings arrived yesterday for the bulk heads so I can start the plumbing soon

This is the fuel pump that’s need for the Meth! as you need bucket loads to keep the engine feed.

Rear wing that makes a S1 stand out from the crowd

I am not going to run the lower wing that directs air into the radiator as this will allow the top wing to work much better

If the cars cooling system needs this I will add this again later

The engine loom next as this is what I do for a living

The loom is a quick measure on the car and then you need to lay out what inputs and outputs the ECU is going to use. I am using the MoTeC M800 ECU as I have had over 12 years working with MoTeC and the stuff works very well.

The loom is made from Raychem Type 44 wire and is very small in places where there is little current required (just to save weight) the covering over the loom is also from Raychem DR25 shrink tube. All wires are twisted and this cancels noise and also introduces flexibility into the loom also.

The engine loom will also be on an Autosport Bulk head connector to allow the quick removal of the engine also.

This engine loom took 30 hours to make and test!

These are the direct injectors for the Meth as thy are 1000cc Bosch motorsport units and thy will be controlled via the MoTeC on a 3D table with boost and RPM to cool the inlet charge temps

The brains of the engine M800 ECU with Dual Lambda, Logging, Advanced functions for ALS and Launch Control

The Little Black unit attached to the loom is a MoTeC SKM Standalone Knock Module for closed loop knock control.

There is also a screen shot of my PC as the software is very user friendly and you can customise the pages so you can look at what you want. Also as you don’t have 8 eyes you can also set Min/Max alarms to warn you if some thing like the engine temp gets to high when mapping.

The engine on the Dyno as it’s a big job doing this but well worth it for such a new engine like this. But it’s worth the hard work because if there are any problems thy can be easily sorted before going into the car.

Also all the calibration of the sensors and fuel, ignition and boost tables can be done in a very controlled environment.

See the throttle we had to add two liner pots to allow the drive by wire to work. No cables... this will allow me to use the DBW to carry out the idle control, Anti Lag, Launch and traction control also.

The Dyno also has a large oil cooler added to it so we will be able to run the engine for long time.

Do you like the Porsche 962 in the back ground!! as its one that we look after for the Group C Championship a cool £600,000 worth of background to the Audi engine

Still prefer the Audi Quattro though....

fitting the proper engine to finalise the oil fittings, make the holes for the loom bulk head connectors, brake pipes and air jacks

All the panels on the Audi are made to come apart very easy so getting the new engine in doesn’t take long. This also allows easy access to every thing to service it also.
