well after five years of ownership my little V is about to go through a slight a change

call me mental as I'm sure some of you will but I've decided to swop the chassis and running gear into a 1971 datsun 510

sub 1000kg running blown arches etc she'll be a full blown track car thats just street legal

the car goes into the GTR shop in January and the build will be over four months

will start a full build thread once we are in progress

below are pictures of my evo v - the 510 as she stands now plus a picture of roughly how she will end up

Looking cool mate, RETRO is where it's at for 2014! I have a 1981 project on the go right now along a similar line of attack! :)

thanks for all the positives lads

the decision to use my car is because its exactly that mine and i trust her

buying another car particularly at the age of an evo v could well turn out to be more trouble than its worth

i know mines sound and everything well looked after

don't want to do the build and then find the donor fraught with issues that then have to be sorted

add to that my car is now worth a hell of a lot more as a pile of parts than a whole car makes the decision easy

the full chassis and running gear will be separated than the 510 body will go on

lots to do but should be amazing

car will remain on the log book as the 510 so no tax for me anymore lol

completely missing the point

I've owned my v for five very good years and don't have the luxury of multi car parking etc so one car for shows one for track days isn't an option

buying a donor at that age is fraught with possible issues so the most obvious decision is to take a car that i know to be mechanically perfect and start there

my v lives on just in another body and will i guarantee be the envy of many and will be loved by all

especially when she's leaving cars 30 plus years younger for dead on track

everyone loves a mk2 escort on cossie running gear well this is the jap way of showing the ford boys how its done

mark my words she will be amazing !!

All missing the point :rotz: Don't worry, i've unsubbed this thread as it's too heart braking seeing something like this, and I don't make 'trouble' on other people's threads and that was never my intention.
I guess some people here value Evo's, and obviously other's just don't and it's 'just another Jap car'. Simple as that.
This is just like what happened with Starions, people would break and wreck perfectly good ones for the silliest reasons because there were 'plenty around anyway', then all of a sudden there are none at all.

There are many people who dream of owning an Evo and can never get one.

I just don't like seeing perfectly good cars wasted :angst:
