2004 shogun 2.5 tdi sport

Help please
As above I have a few problems
1st when I slow down and go through the gears when I get to 2nd or 2st there is a low screeching sound and the brake peddle starts to judder down then lifts up
The car stops as normal but any ideas
Also when driving in two high only happens twice but the four wheel drive light flashes then there is a loud noise like a horn going of and a horrible grinding noise for a few seconds then goes back to normal then the light on the dash goes off
Sorry about description but the only way I can describe it
I have put the car in the other four wheel drive options and it is fine
Thanks

had something similar with a ford Maverick jeep, it was the front hub locks engaging when they werent meant to, they would eventually release with a big bang. As a bodge we removed the auto hub lock rings which fixed the issue, but obviously left us without 4wd

When they were incorrectly engaging, you could hear the wine of 4wd as speed increased
