I popped over to Norris Designs this afternoon and had a chat with Simon Norris about my car and it's progress. All going well, went into the engine room where the engine is being rebuilt whilst I was there. The gearbox has arrived from CliveW ready to go in the car when the engine is complete. All good.

So I took a few pictures for you.

My car was wheeled out into the sunlight, it was great to see it again.

Not so sure it looks right with Indigo GT written on it whilst it's at Norris Designs mind LOL

Might be wise to remove before the engine and transmission go in just in case it jinxes them AGAIN

No idea, it's been a Bank Hol weekend, Simon was racing at Combe yesterday. I will pop over to Norris Designs sometime later today, to see how it's going and the likelihood of it being finished in time. So many things could get in the way, as soon as I know for certain, I will post it up.

Not Good News guys.

The car won't be finished by Friday, I have just had an e-mail from Simon. There has been an issue with the new valve springs not being the correct ones for the X, and some replacement lifters. So waiting on a few parts. Not until they arrive and are fitted can they make up the manifold and turbo kit. Then there is the running in, mapping and gearbox set up and flatshift mapping. It's too tight a time schedule.

I have rescheduled my Track Day for June 23rd. That should give them enough time to finish it with out it being a rush job. Don't want that.

That would be great, I will look forward to that. I have booked the MLR trackday at Combe, it's on a Saturday if it helps. Just an idea.

I have been using home made cooling vanes made from chequer plate alloy for about 3 years. They work well.

This morning I popped over to Norris Designs, I always come away feeling so positive and informed having spoken to Simon and had a look at the engine build.

All is well. There was a slight issue with a few areas that are being addressed now.

The well know ND valve springs were becoming coil-bound when used in conjunction with much higher lift Tomei Camshafts. Rather than changing springs to a different make, (as I thought they were doing), the head is being machined to take the ND valve springs, ensuring that they work at optimum. The head should be back from the machine shop later today.

Norris Designs are using a different piston pin to the one we had before, a heavier duty pin and that is taking some machining to get a perfect fit.

Finally, with the higher lift Tomei cams means the piston pockets need taking out a bit more. They have been checked and are clear of the valves, but they would like a bit more tolerance for safety.

This is all coming along really well and I am assured the car will be ready for collection on the 21st June for my track day on the 23rd.

So, it's fair to say that an excellent job is being done to ensure that this build will be as good as it can be. Happy customer here
