Do i need rod bolts?

Getting my car mapped soon (stage 1 350ish?) and was told by 1 tuner that i do need them and was told by another that i dont unless i rev the head off the car all the time. Whats your opininons/expierences? Car is a 5

Yes removing them would be catastrophic for your engine!

i did not get mine do for my stage 1 map but if your going to spend money for that you might as well get a proper rod job

Cheers thats what i was thinking if i was to change them i may as well go all out and theres no point in that for a stage 1.

The rod will fail before the bolt, I can't say I have seen any first hand where a rod bolt has failed.

ive seen and experienced bent rods,rods seeking sunlight etc..but ive never seen a rod bolt snap

Save your money, bin there done that rod jobs the way forward as others have said get the rod job done,i had them fitted but had rod failure so now have a rod jobbed engine cause mine was total scrap
