Evo 5 Rear Chassis Legs Replacement

Hi Guys, I am replacing my Rear Chassis legs and doing a full restore on the rear end of my Evo 5.

I will put pictures up as a go through the process for all you people who are yet to do this nasty task. The car has rust in all the common area's and needs a good strip down.

I am wondering if anybody knows where I can acquire a new set of rear Chassis legs for an Evo 5? If so please let me know.

Cheers

Mark

As you can see the driver's side Chassis leg is beyond repair and will need to be chopped out and a new section fabricated. I was going to just buy the 2 replacement chassis legs for £1260 but unfortunately, they are not available until December. Thankfully I have access to a Fab shop so we will be doing custom Chassis legs. This should be interesting

I bought a set of chassis legs a few months ago from ross sport they said it could be about 8 weeks wait but they turned up after about 4 weeks, i was gonna have the chassis legs repaired but when the bodyshop saw them they advised me to have new ones fitted instead

Your Bodyshop is probably right mate. Its always better to just replace outright. I am fortunate to have access to a fabrication shop. I will be making mine stronger than the stock ones.

I tried Ross Sport but they informed me that they were unable to get hold of them until December. I can't wait that long for it. That would have held my restoration up for too long. I have been unable to find anyone else who supply them new so far.

Ross Sport also wants £1260 quid for a set. Which for 2 small relatively thin bits of steel is extremely expensive.

Ok so work begun properly tonight. Plenty of parts coming off. Both Rear hubs are now off and the fuel tank has been drained and the filler pipe removed. Next will be the tank itself. Now that I have had a better look under the arches they don't look too bad. I will be adding alot more shots of the rear end and tank tomorrow. All these parts will be blasted and painted. New coil overs, Arms, Drop links, anti roll bar and poly bush kit has been ordered and should be on it's way! I can't seem to get the images to display below due to the image size limit. Sorry about the links guys these forums are very primitive! Much better pics coming soon. These are just what I shot while covered in oil with my phone.

New Blue stuff pads installed from a few weeks ago. Calipers are to be stripped and repainted next week.

Good god that's steep they got the sill for me for£400, I think the whole boot floor is about £600 but that doesn't come with the chassis legs.

I rang them and asked for a price in which they told me they would send me an invoice via email. So I received the invoice and almost fell off my chair. £1260 and they couldn't get them to me until December. I have access to a large press shop and robotic arms with laser and plasma cutters guided by cad design that can fab these parts up pretty easily. Looking around I cannot find anybody else that makes these parts at a reasonable cost. I think this might be an opportunity to knock a load of these out. Discussed this yesterday and we think we can make a pair of these chassis legs for about £400. That is a 1/3rd of the cost of the OEM parts using high-grade steel and whatever coating is desirable. I will upload some pictures once we have knocked some out.
