Can anyone shed any light on why my CEL isn't coming on when my ignition is on? It's an 8 GSR and it died on me while idling at a junction, now it's just cranking but not starting. I also can't access the ECU with ecuflash, it's coming up with 'no response to any known code' 'interface close'. I tried another ECU in the car and the CEL comes up as normal. I could read the rom but I can't get any info from the original ECU to transfer it across because it's not reading it.
Appreciate any input cos it's driving me nuts!:wallbang:

I can't get the car going on the other ECU cos the I can't get my original immobiliser figures off it. It's strange how I can adjust and reflash the spare ECU but can't even get into the original one.

Yeah it's been mapped before, I read somewhere that the mappers lock their ECU's to protect their data? I tried running aktive matrix in the background along with ecuflash but didn't get into it
I've been into the spare ECU and can change the periphery for the immobiliser to disabled but I think I need the original immobiliser codes so that it'll work with my key(?)
not my area, i know nothing about the ecu stuff, but I was under the impression the immobiliser can be disabled so it will work with any key, but could be completely wrong there
As long as the immobiliser bits are set to 0 in the periphery the immobiliser is disabled and should start the car.
Only other way to try and retrieve the the rom from the car is to remove it and bench flash it
