Just been browsing PstonHeads and I'm quite surprised by the sudden price increase on the white Mak.

I think the prices are just a getting going

I've only bought a makinen recently, got it yesterday in fact but I really do think they're very special. I've been driving a mclaren all day and had to just have a blast in the makinen when I got home (first drive) and it really is great fun to drive and I can see and believe just how quick it would be from point to point in the real world

DCY put the price of their white one up £4K today and I can see why

The 22B has gone to £100k now and this is probably the next closest thing and has pedigree and it will gain in value as escort Cosworth's and sierras are now £35-45k

Last year a p1 was £8-9k and now they're £15k

I don't know the makinen market as much as many of you but I do know they're cheap for what they are - hence why I put my money where my mouth is and bought one

YET Another how much is my car worth thread

90% of the threads on here are getting like:

1) discussions of car value
2) look at my car in my garage

there are variations like:
It's passed it's MOT (well I only did 10 miles since last year so - dah what you expect),
I washed it, it's clean now (well it will be if you wet it and used soap when dirty before)
I'm thinking of getting one but I only have a honda jazz and I am 20 and dreaming and dont know puntuation or spelin or any insurance companies but I know....

sorry I am ranting lol

My car is going up in value too. SO WHAT. I don't intend on selling and don't look at it as an investment sat in the Garage. Life is too short for that. Look after them but enjoy them while you still can.

A car is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it based on the condition of the car and how much the buyer wants it. End of.

Foreva

I have to say that Pete's car looks stunning in those photos - just lovely - only decent thing about the thread tbh

Each to their own but money matters to me and I like to not lose out financially

I agree the cars are to be driven but price and value is important in all factors in life imho

So don't like me using the forum to respond with positive helpful advice on your other threads rather than a non-comittal vacuous answer. As in I am actually using the forum for what it was intented

As in when you ask about side stripes and plate sizes I give you a factual answer not opinion...

A TME whilst an ionic car will NEVER be in the same class as a 22B, completely different levels and current prices of both cars of the same age clearly reflect this. Not to mention there were 2500 maks produced compared to 400 22Bs. Not knocking the TME at all as I like them but I can see the bubble bursting as with all classic cars especially with talk of interest rates rising.
To have made good money out of them you needed to buy a good while ago , not now in my opinion.
