EVO VI tuning tips

Hi,

I have recently got a EVO VI TME. It was recently imported and as far as i am aware the engine is standard. The only mods are Tein coilovers and a full Fujitsubo exhaust system. I know it is difficult to predict exactly how much BHP it is putting out (hence why i am going to the midlands RR). I am looking into a little/mild tune in the near future from MG Autos. Im just interested in a remap on high octane fuel, with an uprated intercooler. Im not really to keen on a induction kit because I don't want it to be loud. Approximately what sort of BHP would i be looking at with that sort of tune?

Any tips? Im looking to spend about £700-£800.

Thanks

Don't need intercooler standard ones good for 450/500bhp

3" exhaust
3" decat
Induction kit
255 fuel pump
Avcr boost controller
Forge actuator
Remap 1.7/1.8 bar coming down to 1.6/1.5bar

All well within your budget and I rekon 390/380bhp 375/360ftlb.

Mat will keep you on track and get you good performance from the car.

Welcome and get paid up.

lol wow nice figures there. Yeh i will get paid up soon. My mate had a evo 8 260bhp and he had it tuned upto 350bhp and he said his mpg had improved after the tune when driving normally. Is that possible??

Yep - was advised that factory settings run a bit rich across most of the map to run for efficiency whilst the remap will only give the fuel exactly where and when it is needed ??

why not andy?

i have rn 1.7 bar in all my evo and they have range from 4/6 and never had any problems.

IMO its all down to how the car is mapped and looked after ie oil changes service ect ect.

I know there is people out there that wont aggre but at the end of the day you go with your personal exsperies i have had a few 4 all runing 1.7 bar and i never got crank walk qand no sign of it either.

at the end of the day the engine are well built despite what any one thinks

just my 2 pence worth
.

good luck to what every you choose fella

IMO stick to 1.5 bar on a TME, if you want more then a rod job would be wise.

For some reason TME's like spitting their rods out.

Lol tell that to my last TME was running 2 bar for over 8yrs even peaking ar 2.1bar when cold so turned it down for winter as didnt like pushing it too far so peak at 2.0bar .All standard internals and it was abused to be blunt even a twin plate carbon clutch was on it till the release bearing forced its way through the forks .The engine NEVER missed a beat just under 400bhp /360lbft
The funny thing is when i sold it the turbo blew 10miles down the road .
