Yeh straight on to bare metal, Ian said it will bond perfect. But he said once down to bare metal either phosphate it or get the primer/paint in asap . I planned on painting within 24hours for each coat. But I suppose once it's touch dry?

I won't be using mine on salted roads , but yes I won't get too stressed about some rain!! It's the UK afterall!

The MBX is going to make it so much quicker! Not cheap though..

I'm currently out the UK but I'm back end of summer. I've promised a few I will start a thread so yes I will. That's if it's any interest to everyone?

has anyone left the guard off that protects the tank..it was spot welded on

They are spot welded on but the bolts that hold the tank to the floor also hold them in place, you wouldn't want to leave it off as apart from protection from stones etc it also acts as a heat shield from the exhaust as it runs close to the tank.
