Advice on Evo X FQ400 please

Here is the dilemma.

Were the Fq400s released from the production line as Fq400s or are they all modified Fq300s with the official Fq400 upgrade from Mitsubishi.

I'm really confused.

Ive been typing in Fq400 number plates and they all are registered as Fq300s NOT Fq400s.

Im looking into buying one and it has had an official Fq400 upgrade and is the 13th one made. But on the log book it is registered as an Fq300 SST.

Am i thinking of buying an official Fq400? I was under the assumption only 35 were made and were released as Fq400s not upgraded Fq300s.

Hope this all makes sense.

Please any advice gratefully accepted as i dont want to get tucked.

Cheers

All were official mitsubishi uk upgraded FQ300's afaik. should come with a certificate i believe confirming the upgrade. all evos, more or less, leave the factory the same. its only when they get to the uk that mitsi uk make them into FQxxx.

The 400 was upgraded to Fq400 spec, just like the evo 8 witch was upgraded to a 400 spec.

Each X400 came with a certificate saying its now officially an FQ400, and signed by the general manager. Only 35 were made.

If your thinking of buying one the certificate is a must! Also i would call mitsu Headquarters and they will confirm whether its a genuine 400 or not. This is what i did with mine.

Edited to say, the x400 only came as a manual, not an SST.

Best of luck with the search mate.

Cheers for advice

Now back after a long stint away from performance cars. Had a black Tme 10 years ago so its time to fix my itch.

Rang up Mitsi HQ and they confirmed it was an Fq400. Also has a certificate.

Now the proud owner of number 13 and picking up tomorrow.

Hope i can keep my licence clean on the way home as i'm a driving instructor!

Your car was driven by Jason Plato on Fifth Gear. Used to be on A3 MMC. Lovely car. Hope you enjoy it.
