Evo X Playing Up

My car is a 300 SST and is completely stock but started throwing up P1235 error codes a month 2 after I installed a CTEC cat-back on it.

I was told it was probably the MAF sensor so I sourced a new one and everything was fine for another couple of months, then P1235 showed up again!

I have replaced the fuel pump relay (twice for good measure) which hasn't done anything.
Got the car serviced at CPP (with SST oil/filters changed to keep it happy).

Took the car to Ireland recently and the code kept popping up along with P1870 code as well though this time.

Yesterday it came up with Service Required which then went away after restarting the engine.

Most of the time it comes up in 4th gear and above (I think).

Can you think of what it could be, or what I should be getting it tested for? Could it be the cat-back? Seems unlikely.

I will be coming for a remap with you guys this summer, but I can't do anything until I fix this problem first!

I really need some direction/help with this.
Thanks!

My guess, and that's all this is, is that you are over boosting and in all likelihood there was nothing wrong with your MAF sensor.

I would get it to ant asa to map it and fit all the other bit to make it as it should have left Mitsubishi with....380bhp

I hope so! What would you suggest then I do then, there are no X mappers in the North-West near me so if I am going to make a trip to South Wales, I wanna know it's going to fix it as its an 8 hour round trip for me.

That's definitely next on the cards just want to make sure I have the car perfect before I go down the money-sapping modding route

From memory it is a trustful cel for boost control. The new exhaust may have freed up flow and boost is now going past the limits

Thanks for the reply Ant

So if I was to roll on down to you guys and get a remap and maybe a couple of other tweaks, that would fix the issue?

Out of curiosity is it only a slight tweak on the map to fix the issue, or would you recommend a full remap with 3 port to control boost better?

Yeah. As long as nothing underlying a map will fix it. Will have to be a full map and 3 port as we have to overwrite the original

Car will be faster too!

Seriously, any modification that alters air flow should be accompanied by a remap. To be safe if nothing else, a £600 remap is much cheaper than a blown engine!

Makes sense.

I tried calling a couple of times today but couldn't get through.
Could I get a price for a remap and 3 port please?

Also if I was to get a CTEC decat, what would be the difference in power than without it? And my X is loud as it is, I'm guessing it be unbearable with a decat? Haha

What your availability in May?

Would be £649 for 3 port and map, CTEC offer a silenced decat which is £150 for the X and should then see about 360-380 bhp.

Dates would be towards the end of May
