And apparently on road tyres vs slicks

The answer is that theyre not crap at all. We sent this years suspension for the BC Racing Impreza to Russ with a view to revalving them specifically for the car and they got sent back after being run on the dyno with instruction just to fit and run them as they were, they didnt need any work.

I don't even see how you can have an opinion as you've never driven your TA car and you said your 3 ways aren't very nice on the road AND your old Ohlins were more comfortable. Try some honesty for once.

Rather than just saying "They are the way to go" which means nothing...tell us why they are the way to go and based on what experience? Peeler was only 1 second behind your TA car at knockhill on road tyres and BC suspension vs your Nitrons and expensive slicks...so what have Nitron got over Ohlins and from what experience can you say this? Have you been to Ohlins to see "first hand and in detail" how they put their suspension together? No...have you driven your extreme at any decent speed on the road? No. TA car? No. Recommending them just because they are your sponsors? Yes.

3 way Nitrons are great....but I suggest if buying some from nitron for the road you speak to them about how they handlie on bumpy roads....same if you get the 1-ways. Ask how much dropp they have. Mine have 45mm which is fine for track but not for road. I asked for more at the time but they said they couldn't do it. It's not about the valving, it's about the droop. Try and get that in your head mate. Do you even know what droop is?
I thought droop was a problem suffered by men after drinking too much??

As a newb to sprinting I listen to people's opinion but they can vary dramatically.
My experience of the Mlr is any trader can sell you anything and say its great.
How can bc be crap if peelers so close to plips car?
If you want to get an impression of the difference between BC and Nitron probably the best person to ask is Andrew Barbour as he made the switch at the start of this year's TA season. Oh, and by the way, he was quicker than Peeler at Knockhill.

Knoxville can give a first hand comparison between Tein and Nitron on my TA car. And Knoxville can also offer a view as to the performance of the Nitrons on my road going VI that he drove at last year's Snetterton MLR sprint and came 5th overall.

Someone else that knows a bit about Evos, whether intended for track or road use, is Nick at NR. Why not give him a call on 01522 702277

We DO NOT sell anything we don't use (or have used) ourselves. Ohlins are a product I am behind 100%, not because of the profit (because there isn't much), but because they are bl00dy brilliant.
Anybody who wants a spin in my car is welcome to do so. We can set it up for road or track for you to try the extremes as well.
Why is there name mud on here then?
For what it's worth I've had 2 sets of bc coilovers, the latter being bcs "flagship" Coilover.
As I said above I'm still learning at sprinting and the bc feel "ok" but I can read many many threads saying intrax this, ohlins that,bc ****.
So I'm always trying to get better so naturally you think a step up to get better times would be ohlins etc

But then u see peeler coming within a gnats **** of probably one of the best cars on here.

Peeler's car is right up there with any of the Pro cars - even Kenny would have to agree with me on that one

I'm as confused as you mate, one week it's ohlins are the best,eh no its KW's wait BC's are actually good.......and so it goes on.

I was thinking of getting the ohlins with the price going down, but so unsure what to do I'm now thinking of putting the standard suspension back on and going back into class A.

Just to add...my hotbits were great on track and I got plenty of lap records with them...but they started knocking after a while. I think Ohlins will not only have more life in them but generally be better all round. Well...for 2k+ you'd hope so.

Two things I see people I see people skimp on all the time is suspension and tyres...the 2 parts that connect your car to the ground.

I would have to agree based on my experience with BC and Ohlins both have their place, for the money the BC did a great job on my MX5 last season ...this was for road, track and sprints and in fact it was only at Donington earlier this year did i feel i could use something a little more track focused so I sold the BC and bought some Ohlins DFV to try, unfortunately for me the kit had issues with rear travel for bumpy B road use (common issue with coilover kits for mk2 onwards mx5 due to limited space etc), we tried a few things but i ended up having to return it as i wasnt 100% happy, which was a shame as on track and fast smoother roads they were very good indeed!, certainly a step up from the BC in the fast direction changes etc which is where i felt by BC was starting to get near its limits on track when pushing on very hard, still looking back the BC handled a lot of variety of uses etc without fuss and will most likely put another set back on the car soon.

Cheers
Ian

I'm sure there will be an even better kit out next month which certain traders will be hyping 'the best per £ suspension'.

What ever trader you use, stick with what they say.

A £1000 kit set up right I'm sure would be better than a £2000 kit set up wrong.

For me, the BC's fitted to my 3 are ok, i don't like the fact I'm on 3 wheels every corner and there is not enough travel in the suspension, so i only have 3 points of contact on most corner.

As for Nitron 3 ways i had these fitted to my 5RS used on track and sprint and wasn't a fan at all, sold then fitted teins back on and the car is perfect !!!

Now Ive only driven with the new ohlins once and it was just on the road so i couldn't get a feel for them, but i have been a passenger with them while on track and at a sprint and was pretty impressed with how stable the car was cornering and under braking.
