Question Evo X SST Box Failures - how many?

There is so much talk about this, but I wonder if it's a case of you only ever hear about the ones that have gone wrong, not the majority that are working perfectly.

So!
How many in reality have actually failed?
And of those, were any out of warranty or not fixed by Mitsubishi ?

Agree with what you say, the ones that have had problems are the ones people seem to remember
Will be interesting to see how many actually failed and died I think people have had gear boxes changed by without actually getting to the bottom of the problem cos they where not allowed to work on them .

"Everything is fine " with mine.

It is actually, but you must consider that no matter how many posts you might read on here about Joe Bloggs having his SST box wetting the bed, there are far more SST Evo Xs out there on the roads than there are owned by folk on here so you will never get a true idea as to the ratio of failure

Joe Bloggs here, failed SST box 3 weeks out of warranty, fixed for 50%, still rather expensive.

There's a website that tells you how many of a model have been sold each year in the UK, use that and a search on here for "OH my ****ing god my expensive SST has failed and the useless monkeys at don't know how to fix and have to put in a new one!!!"....divide one by the other and there's yo our box fail ratio.

Not that many then..........
Maybe someone should start a thread "How many clutches have failed", or "how many diff pins have failed" instead

I did not state how many Evo X SST were out there, simply that there are far more on the roads than are owned by members on here.
If my SST box failed I would not come on here pi 55ing and moaning for some of the morons on here to take the p155 and tell me I should have bought a manual. Does everybody record a gearbox failure somewhere for the world to see? No they don't.
So my point remains that you cannot get an accurate or factual ratio of failures as I for one (along with others I am sure) would say nothing about it so no-one would know.
If mine fails, it fails and me crying about it will make no odds. My car, my choice, my tough 5hi7.....or should I have bought a manual???!!

Sorry about your SST pal.

Do you mind me asking how much that was?
Did you have to fight with them to get that?
