300bhp/ton options... on a sub £20k budget... opinions?
Wondering what cars people would recommend to meet that criteria?
300bhp/ton (or thereabouts.... or more), either achieving that figure from factory... or stage 1-2 tune at most. Drivetrain not important (although FWD would be silly). Ideally not a kit car.... (or an Evo/scoob.... that's just cheating! ).Just wondering what people would recommend (or even if it’s possible??)? |

simples get a supra ... skyline... caterham / westfield / radical ... exige / elise ... maybe even a porker or bimma
decide if you want 4WD or RWD and also if you want <1000kg or over 1500kg and that should narrow the choice down

You could build a crazy MX-5 for that money
I think it would be pretty good fun but not my cup of tea personally. Increase the budget and get a Noble |

)E60 M5 is only 250bhp/ton from factory... not far off the mark I guess. Supra/Skyline fall into a similar category as Evo/Scoob... so they're out. All the rest are kit-cars/track-cars - which isn't an option. This isn't for me (I'm happy with my 375bhp/ton.... ) just wondering what's out there - mate is buying a newish S5, but for that money I think he could get something with a bit more poke.... ![]() |

If you were prepared to add about 10% to that budget, and didn't have any hang-ups about LHD, I may have just the thing sat in the garage. 540 brake, about 600lbs/ft of torque, 200mph, only 17,000 miles, folding hard top, very nice condition.
Kleeman SLK55AMG, black with silver leather, frightens the life out of superbikes ( and the driver! ). Very cheap car for the performance on offer. |

You can get a monaro VXR8 for about £12k and spend £7k on the supercharger kit from monkfish performance.
That's got to be there or there abouts |

Get a supercharged Jag... Love my XJ sport and it's only the N/A .. The XK8R is a epic car but you will have to buy a flat cap and pipe though

Well I'm prob not far off a flat cap... got a pipe somewhere as well..... ![]() Mate got the S5 yesterday in the end anyway..... I'm impressed at how well it picks-up from standstill with all that weight. Very responsive at cruise also - guess that's what you get witha 4.2lt V8 and solid torque all the way through the rev range. |
