No Speed Reading on AVCR?
My AVCR just reads Zero on the display... All other outputs are fine.
I'm assuming the signal wire isn't connected up to the car loom, or is connected incorrectly. I don't have the manual as it was on the car when I bought it but from reading on here I see it's the White wire from the AVCR that should read the vehicle speed. Can anyone tell me which pin/ wire colour on a makinen loom this should be connected to? Also, my clocks read in KPH at the moment. Can I change this as a setting on the AVCR? Or if the car reads in KPH, does the AVCR only read in KPH? Thanks |

If your clocks still read in kph then I'd put a small amount of money on the fact that the speed signal wire to the ECU has been cut in order to get around the speed limiter. In doing so, it will also remove the speed signal to the AVC-R

I would be inclining to agree with that considering the history of the car tbh.. I'm sure I've checked all wires from the AVCR before and have confirmed they were all connected up.
Is there any way of telling short of tracing the wire right through the car? Can I test for a feed with a multimetre? And which pin/wirecolour is it I need to check? |

Pin 86 on the ECU should be the speed sensor input wire. They are normally cut in the loom just before they enter the ECU so if you check that you will more than likely find the culprit.

Also, If I get one of those gearbox mounted speedo convertors, does the wire from the sensor on the gearbox here go to the back of the clocks, or to the ECU? Ie, will fitting one of these correct the speedo on the dash as intended or will it not do anything if pin 86 has been cut? Thanks |
