Where to go after evo ownership

After a year and a bit of owning my viii MR I'm unsure what to do . Not sure if I sell it or not . The problem is it only does like 2k a year and is garaged . Just don't get time to drive it ... but I'm now scared I sell it and they increase in value over the next few years . But also would need a toy that is still quick , but not sure what puts a smile on yer face after owning an evo [emoji85]

Depends if you need the money? You have to spend a lot to not look back after selling an evo. The number of people on her that have 'moved on' only to come back to an evo says a lot

Keeping a car in the hope it may gain a little value seems madness to me. Yes if you have a very low mile show car, fair enough, but anything else, by the time you've serviced it (need to keep up to date even if it hasnt moved much,if you think it may gain value), insure it, maintain it, and store it, I doubt the value gain will exceed the cost

Sell it because the money is needed elsewhere, keep it because you want it, decide a price you would happily sell for, advertise, sell if you get your price, keep if you dont.

I just feel that, unless your car is something special, keeping it in the hope it may gain value is a waste of time

I have driven the A45 AMG, last few days I have been test driving the GLA45 AMG. Both great modern cars and the GLA has the 375bhp engine, with lots of toys and driver setups. Exhaust note was great. My girlfriend prefers the AMG over the Evo. She wants me to get a modern car

But I got back into my X and felt at home. Probably because I have had Evo's for over 12 years and keep coming back to them.

Value for money versus performance the Evo wins. I have followed my friend in his A45 AMG which is modified and easily stayed with him. My X is at 400/380 and feels fast. The AMG's are great cars and if I had £30/40k free I would have one as well as the Evo.

To the OP, if you don't need to sell it then don't. If you want a new car then the AMG would be my first choice as a replacement, but I love 'tinkering/modifying my cars and I would be limited to what I could do with the newer car. Evo's are relatively cheap to get good performance gains from, and they make such a difference to the drive.
And Evo's are holding money well at the minute, and will continue that way due to the fact they are not been made any more.
Special editions etc will always be sought after.

Keep yours

You really can't go by that idiots vids, fake hp figures with nothing to back them up, vids like that just expose him. The 45 is a hugely capable car, put them both in the twisties and the A*di wouldn't see where the AMG went, but certainly not as focused as an Evo

I got tired of throwing money at Evos, my X did 170 miles last year and just decided to move on, sold both Evos, so glad I did, it's like a weight off my shoulders, now have something a little less conspicuous but absolutely no less fun and actually using it as a car, done 3000 miles in 4 months lmao

I enjoyed most of my Evo ownership, but I'll never go back, eyes opened :)

Isn't a money thing tbh . ......
Out of interest, has it been remapped? Only ask as 400hp is easy to get in a MR, and IMO, the power that an evo should have, for me 400hp transforms them. Just another option for you if it is standard

My mates a dealer and specializes in the rs3, a45, focus rs ect. He had the limited edt emerald green a45, was lovely and the chassis was awesome, much better than the rs3. The engine in the rs3 is out of this world though...

Anyway he says they are both boring and lose the feel from our old boy evo's. Too much weight, computers and refinement. Guess it depends what your after? I quite fancie more refinement, a great engine note, comfort and a decent stereo....

Must be getting old.

For raw driving experience then evo alllll day

Need to remember evo's are getting old now and times are EVOlving ( see what i did there )
New performance cars are serious bits of kit with serious price tags. Ive found myself thinking what else i would like.
Escort corworth or an R8 v10 for me i think. or an old F355:D

Nothing makes me smile more than a blast in my evo!
